Support & Outreach Services

Through our Support Services, we have made a real and positive impact in the community. This remains a key focus at Rise Against Abuse and a source of pride for our organisation.

Our dedicated team provides guidance, signposting, and intervention for those at risk or struggling to access support. Interventions include risk assessments, referrals to MARAC, safety planning, and empowerment work. We also offer support with court processes—civil and criminal—housing, and legal matters, alongside emotional guidance throughout.

Abuse Awareness and Education

At Rise Against Abuse, we are committed to tackling domestic abuse through education and outreach. We offer tailored courses for practitioners and the public to improve understanding of abuse, recognise the signs, and learn how to support those affected.

We also run outreach days, presentations, and group workshops designed to meet the needs of businesses and practitioners. Our experience supporting people with a wide range of challenges gives us unique insight into the issues communities face today.

Using evidence and expertise, we guide organisations, from businesses to government bodies on how to create safer, more supportive environments for everyone.

Legal Support and Guidance

We offer legal support, advice and guidance to our participants and those who are not receiving support from other organisations. With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. We want to ensure that everyone has access to justice, whether that be access to our partnership solicitors or just some support to attend court.

We have partnerships with both Criminal and Civil solicitors who are able to take on legal aid cases, where our team of paralegals are unable to act on our participants behalf.

The Freedom Programme

We run free 12-week Freedom Programme groups for Men, Women and Teens. This is run both online through Zoom and in local community hubs.
Freedom Programme is a domestic violence programme which was created by Pat Craven and evolved from her work with perpetrators of domestic violence. The Programme was primarily designed for victims of domestic violence. However, the programme, is also suitable for perpetrators, who are wishing to change their attitudes and behaviour.
The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by attitudes and beliefs on the actions of abusers and the responses of victims and survivors. The aim is to help them to make sense of and understand what has happened to them, instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess. The Freedom Programme also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.

Ongoing support

We run a 10 week follow on programme designed to empower victims of abuse to become thriving survivors. Giving practical solutions to life after abuse. Topics include: recovery, safe dating, goal making, boundary setting, early warning signs/ red flags and ways to break the cycle of abuse.

We also provide recovery support groups that are run weekly and are participant led, covering topics like recovery book studies/reviews, seminar discussions, keeping up with the latest developments in areas like statistics, updates in the law and reviewing current affairs.
